Italian cheeses shine at the International Cheese Awards 2024 with 12 gold medals, confirming their excellence in the global dairy panorama
Every year, England hosts one of the most important events in the dairy world: the International Cheese Awards. In the 2024 edition, Italy shone, taking home 12 gold medals with high-quality cheeses, from Parmesan Cheese al Taleggio cheesepassing through delights such as the Gorgonzola and the Cheese with Vinsanto.
The event and the Italian success
L’International Cheese & Dairy Awards, che si tiene dal 1897is an annual exhibition and competition dedicated to the best cheeses and dairy products in the world. In addition 5000 cheeses from all over the world come to England to be judged by industry experts and to be discovered by a wide audience through cooking demonstrations and various attractions. Among these thousands of products, 12 categories are reserved for Italian cheeses, which stand out for their excellence and variety.
The 2024 edition saw great success for Italy, with 12 gold medals awarded to various Italian dairies. The company Arrigoni Baptistfor example, has obtained five medals, four of which are gold, for its products Gorgonzola Piccante, Gorgonzola Dolce and Taleggio. This triumph has brought the list of achievements of the Bergamo dairy to 96 awards.
The dairy too John Ferrari has achieved important recognition, with the 24-month-aged Parmigiano Reggiano winning a gold medal. Futura Foods added another gold medal to the Italian loot in the Parmigiano Reggiano DOP category with a product aged 24 months. The distributor Bradburys Cheese triumphed with the Grana Padano Riserva, taking home another prestigious gold medal.
Il Il Fiorino Dairy has distinguished itself with three gold medals: for the Cacio di Afrodite, a sheep’s milk cheese, and for the Morbidosa di Pecora in the soft cheese category. Italy was also a protagonist in the Gorgonzola Dolce with the company Igor which won the gold medal with the Gran Riserva specialty.
