BITONTO – Late yesterday afternoon, around 8 pm, the tranquility of Bitonto was interrupted by a shooting that shook the residents. Five shots were fired between via Stellacci and via Crocifisso, in what appears to be a rapid sequence of shots, perhaps a “tit for tat” between clans.
According to the first reconstructions provided by the Carabinieri of the Modugno company, a man on a high-powered scooter sped along via Crocifisso, firing several bullets into the air before fleeing onto via Stellacci. The shots, clearly heard by numerous witnesses, alerted the police via a phone call.
The military of the scientific section are currently analyzing the cartridges found on the asphalt, while the Carabinieri are examining the footage from the video surveillance cameras in the area to obtain further details on the incident.
Previous incidents of violence
This is not an isolated case. A similar episode, although of lesser magnitude, occurred last April 1, Easter Monday, while Lello Capriati was killed in Torre a Mare in Bari, an event that the police station had been investigating for some time. Investigators suspect that both shootings may be linked to the fight for control of drug dealing areas in the area.
