On the iconic Assen track, the MotoGP riders took to the track for the eighth round of the 20224 championship. Bagnaia triumphed again.
As the traffic lights went out, poleman Pecco Bagnaia had a perfect sprint, managing to immediately pull ahead of Jorge Martin. The Turin driver, in great form after a string of 3 wins in a row, set the best time in qualifying, immediately turning Turn 1 in first position. Behind Martin and Bagnaia, Alex Marquez rose up. The latter overtook Maverick Vinales at the start and put himself in contention for a podium finish. The Spaniard from Aprilia, future teammate of Enea Bastianini in the KTM Tech3 team, immediately had to watch out for the return of Marc Marquez. The top two in the drivers’ standings put on a show. Behind them, Vinales overtook Alex Marquez and gained third position.
