Transport: Piedmont, ticket prices on regional trains and extra-urban buses increase

Starting from Monday 1st July, the increase in ticket prices for regional trains and extra-urban buses will take effect.

This is what was foreseen in a 2024 resolution, approved last January by the Piedmont Mobility Agency, a consortium that deals with local transport on behalf of the Region, Metropolitan City, Provinces and Municipalities.

The average increase in travel tickets will be 3.59%. This is an adjustment of fares to inflation, provided for by a regional law passed in 2013.

It is the third adjustment in prices in the last three years, having risen in the previous two – always following inflation – first by 5.45% and then by 5.88%.

From Monday, therefore, a second class train ticket (or a ride on a suburban bus) will cost from 10 to 40 cents more depending on the length of the route.

A weekly magazine will have a surcharge between 30 cents and 1.40 euros. A monthly one will cost from 1.50 to 5.50 euros more.

The price of an annual subscription will increase from 11.50 to 48 euros. On buses, 10-month passes for students will have an increase in price from 10 to 42.50 euros depending on the case, those for under 26s on trains (valid for 12 months) from 10 to 73.50 euros.

The same goes for integrated routes (train plus bus) and for Formula season tickets: the cost of annual tickets, in this case, will rise from a minimum of 14 to a maximum of 38 euros.

Tariffs have also been revised for Bim A and Bim B (Metropolitan Integrated Tickets), the tickets that allow you to travel on public transport from the City of Turin to the first and second ring roads: the cost of these tickets will go from 3.70 to 3.80 euros (Bim A) and from 4.20 to 4.50 euros (Bim B).
