On April 18, a few hours before the return match of the Europa League against Milan, Roma announced that Daniele De Rossi would be the coach of the Giallorossi club for the next season as well. More than two months later, on June 25, the official announcement finally arrived: De Rossi has renewed with Roma until 2027. Roma fans therefore had to wait over two months to be able to read in black and white – or “yellow on red”, quoting De Rossi – the official renewal. A long wait, prolonged by the continuous news that alternately announced “the announcement in a week”, “the official announcement tomorrow”, “the official announcement will arrive within 48 hours”, news that in the end were no longer published, because this announcement was slow in arriving and in the end no one tried to guess the publication date. And just when no one expected it anymore, in less than 30 minutes Roma first announced the sale of Belotti to Como and then the three-year renewal of De Rossi. And now, what will be the next statement? And especially, What announcements are Giallorossi fans most anxiously awaiting?
ATTACKER – The most awaited announcement is only one and concerns the new striker. With Lukaku returning to Chelsea and Abraham leaving, Roma will necessarily have to buy at least one new striker. Many names have already come out, the truth – unfortunately – is that no one is close enough to expect a statement in the short term.
RIGHT BACK – The right back chapter, however, is different. This too is highly anticipated, but the announcement of a new full-back will certainly warm the hearts of Roma fans less than that of a new striker. Questions of role and goals, but beware of underestimating the importance of a full-back. In recent years, in fact, we have widely seen what it means not to have a player capable of playing in that role.
DYBALA – And then? What else? Well, there would be Dybala’s famous renewal, with the famous clause, which – by the way – will become active in a few days. By June 27th, it seems difficult to think that Roma are working to renew the Argentine’s contract and, at the moment, the Giallorossi club does not seem willing to negotiate, despite being aware of the clause risk. Unless, as happened with De Rossi, Dybala’s renewal arrives at the least expected moment and, with another coup, the statement comes out when no one expects it.
TIME OUT – It’s difficult to know, but one thing is certain: The fans seem tired of waiting and, after having responded to the season ticket campaign with their usual enthusiasm, they are now asking for high-level signings and perhaps, if possible, without having to wait another two months.
