First official meeting for the two new mayors of Alghero and Sassari, Cacciotto and Mascia, with the President of the Sardinian Regional Council Alessandra Todde. The pact for the North-West, signed during the electoral campaign, takes shape with an operational meeting in Cagliari where some of the main critical issues and requests of the territory were submitted to the guidance of the Region. Various topics were touched upon with a greater focus on local transport, healthcare, seagrass and Neptune’s Cave.
“Regarding the hydrogen train project, in our opinion, as also emerged from the meetings with citizens, we must carry forward a public transport system based on the metro-tram that is able to connect the different urban centers with each other and with the port of Porto Torres and the airport of Fertilia”, said the mayors, with the mayor of Alghero who also recalled the total lack of sharing of the project headed by Arst which, among other things, “in the performance of its service in our city and in the countryside has demonstrated, for some time, a series of problems, including the absence of information poles and shelters, which strengthen our desire to change operator”.
All reasoning from the perspective of the awaited definition of the Metropolitan City which will have to see municipalities and territories as protagonists towards a modern and virtuous synergy of the future former Province of Sassari. Another issue is that of seagrass, on which Cacciotto asked the President to have more funds for the disposal and recovery of the sand in order to reduce the accumulations in San Giovanni resulting from some legislative measures to which the only definitive answer may come with the birth of the storage and recovery site under construction in San Marco. Remaining on the coast we moved on to concerns about the effects of the so-called “Bolkestein” on the concession of Neptune’s Cave. On this point, as well as for the others, extensive reassurances were received from Todde, with an immediate commitment in the health sector, aimed at stemming the growing territorial criticalities, with greater involvement of the Social and Health Conference.
Again in Cagliari, a check on the road works followed with the councilor Antonio Piu and a face to face meeting with the Abbanoa leaders: On the table was the issue, still unresolved, of the continuous non-compliance with the water distributed in Maristella. A meeting will follow on the delicate topic between the Municipality, Abbanoa, ASL and the representatives of the villages affected by the problem. Before leaving, also to shine the spotlight on another crucial and long-standing theme, the mayor of Alghero gave President Todde the book by Mario Sechi entitled “Surigheddu. Stories, characters and surroundings” which deals with the history of one of the most important agricultural compendiums in Sardinia and which “must return to being used for its agricultural vocation in conjunction with naturalistic tourism development linked to food and wine”, said Cacciotto with Todde who, also on this topic, guaranteed the reactivation of the processes needed to achieve the desired objective of reviving the historic agricultural company at the entrance to Alghero.
