The Confsal Lombardy Regional Secretariat and the Regional Secretary Antonio Barbuto propose a sort of “handbook” dedicated to those who want to participate in the next selection to become firefighters.
The Ministry of the Interior has called a public competition for firefighters of the National Fire Brigade, aimed at covering 350 jobs.
The selection is aimed at candidates in possession of a secondary school diploma.

REQUIREMENTS
Those who possess the following summarised requirements can participate in the firefighter competition:
– Italian citizenship;
– enjoyment of political rights;
– age not exceeding 26 years. The age limit is set at 37 years only for volunteer personnel of the National Fire Brigade, registered for at least one year in the appropriate lists, and in possession of the other requirements set out in the announcement;
– psycho-physical and aptitude requirements referred to in the decree of the Minister of the Interior of 4 November 2019, n. 166 and subsequent amendments;
– secondary school diploma;
– moral qualities and conduct referred to in the art. 26 of law 1 February 1989, n. 53 as well as art. 35, paragraph 6, of the legislative decree 30 March 2001, n. 165;
– not having been expelled from the Armed Forces and militarily organized bodies nor having received an irrevocable sentence of conviction for a non-negligent crime or having been subjected to a prevention measure;
– not having been dismissed from public office or exempted from employment in a public administration due to persistent insufficient performance or declared forfeited from state employment pursuant to art. 127, paragraph 1, letter d), of the decree of the President of the Republic of 10 January 1957, n. 3.
The admission requirements must be met on the expiry date of the deadline established in the notice for the submission of applications for participation (i.e. 20 July 2024).
RESERVES
Out of the 350 fire fighter positions put up for competition, the following reserves operate:
45% of the places for fixed-term volunteers of the Armed Forces;
35% of the places to volunteer staff of the National Fire Brigade who, on the expiry date of the deadline for submitting applications indicated in the competition notice, have been registered in the appropriate lists for at least three years and have carried out no less than 120 days of service.
Those who intend to avail themselves of one of the above reserves must declare it in the application to participate in the competition. The reserved, unfilled places are assigned, according to the order of the ranking, to the other suitable candidates.
SELECTIVE PROCEDURE
The procedure involves a pre-selection test and 3 exam tests.
PRESELECTION TEST
The pre-selection, which may take place at decentralized offices and will consist of solving multiple choice questions on the following topics:
history of Italy from 1861 to today and elements of chemistry and physics;
logical-deductive and analytical questions, aimed at exploring intellectual and
reasoning; questions aimed at ascertaining knowledge of the use of the most widespread IT equipment and applications and of the English language.
Failure to appear at the pre-selection test is considered a waiver of the competition,
regardless of what the cause was that determined it.
EXAM TESTS
The candidates who pass the pre-selection will then be subjected to 3 motor-aptitude exam tests:
1st test: evaluation of balance, strength, coordination and motor reaction;
2nd test: resistance evaluation;
3rd test: aquatic evaluation.
Each of the tests may be made up of multiple modules.
Candidates who pass the exams will be admitted to the evaluation of their qualifications.

SUBMIT ADMISSION APPLICATION
The application to participate in the competition for 350 firefighter positions must be submitted electronically exclusively through the application available on this page following the instructions specified therein, by 20 July 2024. To access the application, candidates must be in possession of
SPID and Electronic Identity Card (CIE).
FURTHER INFORMATION AND SUBSEQUENT COMMUNICATIONS
On 10 September 2024 on the Single Recruitment Portal www.InPA.gov.it as well as on the website of the Department of Fire Brigade, Public Rescue and Civil Defense, communication will be given on the method of carrying out the pre-selection test (test diaries) . All subsequent communications regarding the competition procedure, the exam diaries and the ranking will be made known via the official website of the Fire Brigade Department.
