The second meeting was held at the Prefecture of Pesaro and Urbino to continue the discussion on the problem of accidents, including fatal ones, in the workplace and on the initiatives to be undertaken. The main trade unions, Confartigianato, Confapi, Confindustria Pesaro Urbino, Legacoop representing the trade associations, as well as INPS, INAIL, the Territorial Labor Inspectorate and AST, participated in the discussion.
During the meeting, the statistical data provided by INAIL and the ITL (Territorial Labor Inspectorate) were analysed, relating to the accident phenomenon in the province in 2023 compared with the 2022 data, in order to be able to identify the sectors and groups of age most at risk. The sectors that rank first in terms of number of accidents in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, stated the Prefect, are those of construction, agriculture and manufacturing and the age group from 50 years onwards is the one subject to the greatest accidents in the workplace. Work. However, there is a decreasing trend in accident reports (-4.7% compared to 2022) while the number of reports for occupational diseases is increasing (+4.3% compared to 2022).
«There reflection on data at our disposal has led to highlighting the sectors in which the greatest number of accidents occur, in these sectors it is necessary to intervene as promptly as possible in order to identify together the measures to be adopted. First of all, widespread and targeted awareness-raising within the companies present in the province is necessary. It is also necessary to reflect on the fact that workers in the age group of 50 years and over are those most exposed to accidents and understand the reasons” declared the Prefect, Emanuela Saveria Greco.
The parties have committed to drafting a document in a short time that identifies the actions to be promoted, among which certainly an accurate training in companies and the establishment of a control room, so that constant attention to the phenomenon is given. The document will then be shared in a future meeting at the Prefecture.
