The first “Golden Sancarlino” was awarded to Arona

On the occasion of the first municipal council in Arona, the “Sancarlino d’oro” award was established and conferred.

Golden Sancarlino

It is the intention of the municipal administration to establish the honor of the SANCARLINO D’ORO, to give public recognition to deserving people who can also be assessed in relation to the activity carried out in favor of the local community, in the most varied sectors, whether they are still alive or they are no longer.

“It is the intention in this way – said the mayor Alberto Gusmeroli – to revitalize the Aronese Award of the Year by integrating people who have particularly distinguished themselves in the fields of science, literature, arts, industry, work, school, sport, with initiatives of a social, welfare and philanthropic nature, with particular collaboration in public administration activities, with acts of goodness, generosity, courage and civic self-sacrifice have benefited Arona in any way, both by making its prestige higher through their personal virtue and by serving the individual institutions with disinterested dedication,” those apparently simple and secluded professionals who give added value to the City with their profession, evidently having a positive and permanent impact on the Community.

The choice of the “golden San Carlino” is for obvious reasons linked to the statue of San Carlo, which dominates and symbolizes Arona, both for the citizens and for the surrounding area and the whole of Italy.
Together with the offices we will define the criteria for the award in the coming weeks, but I was very keen to award this first pin of the soon-to-be-established San Carlino d’Oro honor to a person who is no longer with us, who left us last October 26th , at just 69 years of age, after years of illness which undoubtedly precluded him from being able to make himself useful and valuable to the community again, which I consider exemplary to give meaning to the meaning of this recognition.

I mean Giovanni Immuccihistoric usher of the Municipality of Arona.
On my first day as Mayor I entered the Municipality at 7. It was the first time I met the messenger/doorman: a distinguished gentleman who every day, with unique care and professionalism, did a job that, to most, might seem humble and without gratification and, instead, he managed to do it so well that when he retired everyone noticed his absence and how important his work was. His name is Giovanni Immucci, known to all as Giovanni. (This is how I began the chapter “Vision, lengthening and widening of the city” of my book “You can change the world!” which I wrote in November 2017.)
As I write in the parchment, which I wish to deliver together with the first San Carlino d’Oro pin to the family, Giovanni is in everyone’s memory the usher of the Municipality of Arona who, with dedication, self-sacrifice and tireless commitment, gave testimony of how the excellence can be expressed in any profession, even in the apparently simplest and most secluded one, as confirmed by the void left in that role”.
