Axpo for 20MWp photovoltaic in Friuli-Venezia Giulia

At the beginning of December 2023, Axpo and Semesteb, a development company utility scale solar projectshave signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the construction of a “ready-to-build” ground-mounted photovoltaic system from 20 MWp in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The plant will be built on a surface intended for non-agricultural use already suitable “ex lege” for the installation of ground-based systems and compatible with the intended use of the land.

The photovoltaic system will be connected to the public grid, and the energy produced will be sold through a Power Purchase Agreement to a buyer to be defined. The system will extend over more than 16 hectares and will be composed of almost 34,500 solar panelswhich will contribute to the production of more than 25 GWh of sustainable energy per year. A production corresponding to the annual energy needs of approximately 9,000 families.

Compensation measures for local communities

As part of the compensation measures agreed with the local authorities for the Parco Molini photovoltaic plant and for a second plant to be 20 MWp‘Parco Solare Casale Birri’ owned by Semesteb, the two companies will build an additional plant to 500 kWp located within the same municipality.

This latest photovoltaic system will make energy available to the community as part of a system collective self-consumptionor one Energy Community. In April 2024, an agreement was signed with the Municipality of Manzano (UD) which provides for the construction of this smaller photovoltaic system in the industrial area of Manzano. The energy produced by the plant will be destined for the local community.

The commitment to solar

This project is perfectly in line with the Axpo Group’s objectives of expanding solar energy production.

Antoine Millioud, Head of Solar Division at Axpo
The Parco Molini project is a significant step in our efforts to expand the production of renewables in Italy. We are committed to contributing to the energy needs of local communities and to supporting Italy on the path towards sustainable transition.

With projects like this Axpo demonstrates its continued dedication to the growth and expansion of renewables and to supporting local communities with increasingly innovative and sustainable solutions.
