Milan Post | Cagnolati’s Urgent Motion for Illegal Lambro

For several weeks now, incidents of illegal building have continued to affect Parco Lambro and its surrounding areas. The latest illegal acts occurred on Saturday and Sunday, when a group of young people organized a party inside the Park, dirtying it with waste and illegal shacks. Yesterday, in this regard, the councilor of Municipio 3, Marco Cagnolati (FDI), filed an urgent motion to put an end to illegal building inside the park. The first steps of the document show how the illegal incidents have been going on for many years now, also due to the lack of controls, especially during the day. Illegal building has now become routine on Milanese weekends: musical events, loud shouting, and rave parties are just some of the activities organized by illegal builders who, very often, use the social “weapon” to gather as many people as possible. The motion then continues with a note on a previous resolution, never implemented, which provided for an increase in the number of guards on weekends from 7 am to 11 pm, at the main entrance points to the park. The document continues, closing the introduction, with a series of requests addressed to the competent authorities, in order to bring the situation back to normal. In particular, the motion asks to enforce the regulations currently in force regarding the use of public green spaces, guaranteeing the right of citizens to be able to enjoy the quiet at night. There is also a request to establish permanent guards at the main entrances to the Park (Via Puisiano – Viale Federico Garcia Lorca and Viale Alberto Ascoli), from 9 am to 10:30 pm, continuously. The motion also mentions the Ministry of Defense, opening up to the possibility of collaboration with it, re-proposing, among other things, the operation Safe Roads, inaugurated by the Berlusconi IV government. Also requested is the seizure of equipment and goods that may be used inside the park. The last two points concern the consideration for the construction of a fence, in order to close the park during the night hours, and a written reference to all the actions that the administration will undertake to address the problem. Some illegal shacks, however, will be cleared thanks to the opening of construction sites for waste removal, as specified in the statements made by the Security Councilor Marco Granelli: “Between the road and the Lambro, over the years, some people have illegally occupied the green areas with shacks, artifacts, dividers, also abandoning a lot of waste. The area thus becomes degraded, dangerous and risky also for further abandonment of waste and dispersion in the nearby Lambro. Let’s help the neighborhood to have a redeveloped and usable space, less degradation and insecurity”, concludes the councilor.
