LAZIO REGION – Lo sports and, in football in particular, to promote the Lazio region and his image. The regional councilor for sport and tourism Elena Palazzo flew last weekend to Germany, to Iserlohn, where the headquarters of the Italian national team involved in the European football championship has been set. He carried out this political-institutional “blitz” to announce the important agreement between the Region and the Football Federation. Thanks to this partnership, several prestigious matches of numerous Italian national football teams will be hosted and organized in the Lazio region, especially numerous youth selections. THEThe start of this innovative form of collaboration will take place immediately after the summer or, better yet, at the beginning of next September when the Italy Under 21 football team will be on retreat in Latina, more precisely from 1 to 5 September when, live on Rai 2, at 6 pm, will face San Marino of the same age at the “Francioni” stadium in a match valid for the 2025 Under 21 European Championship qualifiers.

On 10 October, the Under 20s will be on stage in Rieti, at the “Centro d’Italia” Stadium (time and TV programming to be defined), for the match against England valid for the 8 Nations Tournament 2024-25. On the same day, as made official by the FIGC itself, Luciano Spalletti’s Azzurri will also return to play in Lazio, at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, against Belgium (10 October Rai 1, 9pm). It will be the first home match of the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League group after the two away games in September in Paris (with France) and Budapest (with Israel).

Thanks to the agreement stipulated between the Region and the FIGC we not only promote the image of Lazio as we are already doing on the occasion of the European Football Championships, the only Italian region present within Casa Azzurri but let’s bring the blue shirt back to our provinces. In conjunction with the appointments with Italy, we will involve the associations and schools on issues related to the values of sport that the blue shirt symbolizes – said the Iri councilor during the press conference in which the blue Darmian also participated – The national youth competitions will also be an opportunity to verify the standards of international competitions so as to evaluate the priorities of the interventions to be planned, based on the resources available, on the sports facilities of the Region”.

Furthermore, if the date and venue of a match for the Women’s National Team are still to be evaluated – the Italian team’s calendar for next season, in fact, will be defined only after the two European Qualifiers matches in July – at “Casa Azzurri” in Germany Councilor Palazzo confirmed how Lazio will host the Youth Finals from Under 18 to Under 15 in the summer of 2025, receiving the baton from the Marche Region, where the 2023-24 finals are concluding for the third year in a row. After the Regular Season which will take place between September and May, the appointment is in Lazio for the Scudetto finals (and in some cases for the semi-finals) of the competitions organized by the Youth and School Sector of the FIGC Under 18 Professionals, Under 17, 16 and 15 Serie AB and Under 17, 16 and 15 Serie C, Under 17 and 15 Amateurs, Under 17 and 15 Women, Under 17 and 15 Futsal.

“We are defining – concluded Councilor Palazzo – the most suitable competition venues to give the finalist clubs the best possible scenario from a sporting point of view and the places that will host all the participants. We expect an important return from a tourist point of view from these events. In fact, over 1000 people are expected, including staff, players from the finalist teams, their respective families and FIGC staff, for a total of at least 3,000 overnight stays in the period. Furthermore, also in this case, initiatives will be developed that will involve young people, through associations and schools, to promote events, meetings and make the most of all the potential of sports tourism”.
