Moments of great fear were experienced in Stuttgart during the match of the Europeans Between Scotland And Hungary. A violent clash between the Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn and the Hungarian striker Barnabas Varga forced the referees to suspend play for several minutes. The impact was so serious that Varga remained motionless on the ground, arousing the fear of those present.

The match was extremely important for both teams, who were playing their last chances of qualifying. The tension was palpable from the first minutes, with a physical and hard-fought game for every ball. In the 68th minute the incident occurred which saw Gunn and Varga collide in a fortuitous but violent manner. While Gunn quickly got up, Varga remained on the ground in a worrying condition.

The television images, after briefly framing the player on the ground, showed the anguished faces of his teammates and the public. The Hungarian footballers were visibly upset, with some of them in tears. The doctors of the Hungarian team immediately covered Varga with tarpaulins to protect his privacy and prevent his photography, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

After being immobilized by doctors, Varga he was carried off the field on a stretcher, wearing a collar to immobilize his cervical spine. The attacker was then brought in ambulance to a local hospital for further tests. The match resumed only after a long stop, with an atmosphere of strong concern among the players and spectators.

The incident highlighted once again how unpredictable and dangerous clashes on the pitch can be, even in a context of high competition such as the European Championships. Varga’s condition will be monitored in the next few hours, hoping that the injury is not as serious as initially feared.
