A bomb, shots and fires: a fiery night in the Decumani

NAPLES. Before a nighttime shooting in via Duomoon the corner with via Forcella ai Mannesi: then ua bomb planted near a pizzeria in San Biagio dei Librai which damaged the shutter and a Renault parked a few meters away.

Two serious and violent episodes that brought the attention of investigators back to Decumani area, where for some time an apparent tranquility had reigned in the criminal circles. Everything happened between 2 and 3 on Sunday and at least for the moment, a connection between the facts is only a hypothesis, also because it is not clear whether whoever placed the bomb wanted to hit the restaurant or the car, however registered to a person unrelated to the Camorra. What seems plausible is the attempt to change the balance between the clans while there is no doubt that the raids represent just as much intimidation.

It was around 2am when it went off the first alarm, between via Duomo and via Forcella ai Mannesi. Several calls were received at 113 reporting a shooting in progress. They rushed to the scene the policemen of the Upg police squad and the Vicaria Mercato police station, who together with their colleagues from the police station’s flying squad are conducting the investigations. They were found on the ground 6 7.65 caliber pistol casings, but no doubt the investigators found on the walls, doors, balconies and windows of the buildings potentially affected by the fire raid. As, the hypothesis of a “spread out” appeared the most likely.

Another alarm, about twenty minutes later, in via San Biagio dei Librai where a homemade bomb planted on the pavement between a pizzeria and a parked Renault exploded. The explosion caused both the shutter of the business and the car, whose owners declared that they had not been threatened or asked for “protection money”.
