BOLZANO – One of the six workers injured in the explosion at the Aluminum plant in Bolzano has died. Diallo Bocar, a 31-year-old originally from Senagal, died yesterday evening, June 22, in Verona hospital. After the accident he was urgently transported by helicopter to the burns department in Borgo Trento. In recent days, the burnt workers had been immersed in a tank of a special gel that treats serious burns. For one of them, however, the injuries he sustained were too serious and he didn’t make it.
Machinery exploded in Bolzano, five seriously injured and one dead
On the night between 21 and 22 June, around 00.30, a machine exploded at the company Aluminum Bozen srl in Bolzano, located in via Toni Ebner at number 24, in whose factory around 130 employees work for the production of extruded hard aluminum alloys. The toll was 8 injured, five seriously and now, the tragic epilogue, even one dead.
Urzì: «Raising the threshold of prevention»
«The death of one of the workers, seriously burned following an explosion that occurred at the Aluminum plant in Bolzano a few days ago, requires each of us to raise the threshold of commitment on the prevention front. Working is always dangerous, especially in sensitive environments such as industrial ones, and there can be many causes. The investigations will evaluate it. This is why we must keep an increasingly careful eye on those who are exposed to these dangers. Because the death of each of them or the permanent wounds or burns on their body are the tangible sign of the sacrifice of work in the service of the collective well-being of society. Now a thought for the victim and encouragement for the injured. It’s just a time for mourning.” This was stated by the Honorable Alessandro Urzì, regional coordinator of Fdi’s Trentino Alto Adige.
