Zaynab Dosso’s march towards the Paris Olympics continues (which for athletics will start in August) with a good first place obtained in Trieste in the 17th International Meeting of the Triveneto.
Dosso wins the 100 meters in 11”17, also setting the meeting record, on a Gloria Hooper, who started very well, who finishes in 11”26, returning to her highest levels ever; third is Anna Bongiorni, in 11”28, over Chiara Melon in 11”57 and Giorgia Bellinazzi in 11”58. Dosso’s reaction time to blocks wasn’t bad (0.159, in line with her opponents), but in the first few supports she seemed to give something away to Hooper. She then relaxed, she regained first position and won with almost a tenth of an advantage. Adjust wind, +1.0 m/s. As a curiosity, it should be said that the prize for the first place, as for the other five international races of the Trieste meeting considered “top”, was 800 euros.
However, Dosso said she was satisfied with her performance, also because it actually testifies to the unity of the Italian group which can become important in the 4×100 relay, after the disappointment of the European Championships in Rome. Zaynab will be busy next weekend at the Italian championships which will be held in La Spezia: she is entered in the 100m, where she obviously has the best time, and in the 200m where she comes in third. The 200 is Sunday, so after the 100 you will be able to decide on a possible double commitment.
