The 180 years of the Merate firefighters: tribute in the Region

Tribute in the Region for the 180th anniversary of the Merate firefighters, welcomed together with colleagues from Holland, France and Finland in view of the important birthday.

“On the occasion of the celebrations of the 180th anniversary of the Merate volunteer fire brigade detachment which will take place in the next few days and which the Lombardy Region proudly sponsors – comments Mauro Piazza, undersecretary to the presidency with responsibility for Autonomy – this morning I hosted at Palazzo Lombardy the Dutch, French and Finnish fire brigade delegations, accompanied by the former team leader of the Merate detachment Pierangelo Castelli. During the meeting I expressed my appreciation and esteem for the precious rescue and civil protection activity carried out in service of the community”.

The Merate volunteer fire brigade detachment, operational 365 days a year, serves a large catchment area and, in order to make it even more efficient, the last legislature of the Lombardy Region made an important contribution to the creation of the Cpe – Multipurpose emergency center with the approval of an agenda that Piazza himself presented to the Regional Council to bring benefits and added value with respect to the security needs of the territory.

“The Merate detachment is an important and concrete reality for the Lecco area – adds the regional undersecretary – I thank all the firefighters for their commitment, availability and the exceptional work carried out with dedication and professionalism and the Amis Association of Pumpier de Meràa (Friends of the Fire Brigade of Merate) for the commitment shown in all these years in support of the activity of the volunteer firefighters”.
