Differentiated autonomy, Fontana “won the Constitution”

It is “a great satisfaction because we can finally say that our Constitution has won. Finally, despite the many things, the many lies that have been told, this part of the Constitution will also be applied.”

Words from the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, in the press point on the approval of the Autonomy Bill.

“So thanks to the Constitution, thanks to those who have had the courage in these years to accept and have to reject so many lies and so many infamies, so many absolutely non-existent things that have been told. The Constitution, which provides for differentiated autonomy, won. Italy won because we will be able to obtain a more modern, more efficient country, more capable of responding to the needs of current times”, continued Fontana.
“We will have the possibility of a Lombardy Region that will be able to go even faster, that will be able to be even more competitive, with its European and global competitors. We will have the opportunity to create even more skilful and even more efficient procedures on the matters within our competence that our entrepreneurs, our workers, constantly and continuously ask of us”, added the president. “We will have the opportunity to create even greater well-being in our Region. So I think we should say thanks to Parliament and to Minister Calderoli who has finally unblocked this situation, which is absolutely fundamental for the future of our country. So fundamental that it is a part of the Constitution that provides for it.”

“I DON’T FEAR THE REPEAL REFERENDUM”

“I don’t fear anything because I believe it is a matter of common sense and I believe that Italian citizens have it. Therefore, if there is this further attempt to exploit a reform that goes in the direction of improving the country, I believe that Italian citizens will be very keen.” This was stated by the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, during a press point on the approval of the Autonomy Bill, to those who asked him whether or not he feared a possible repeal referendum.

FONTANA, “WE WILL IMMEDIATELY ASK FOR 8 SUBJECTS”

“As soon as the law is promulgated we are immediately ready to send our requests to the government. We will ask not all of the subjects because it is right to start gradually also for an internal organizational issue. There will be two important subjects for which Lepta or Lea are already foreseen: one will be healthcare, one will certainly be the environment. And to these we will add another series of subjects ranging from professions to foreign trade, which are less relevant but can be a good framework. The two subjects on which we hope to provide answers are healthcare and the environment.”
The six non-Lep subjects are: foreign trade, supplementary pensions, professions, civil protection, international relations and with the EU, coordination with public finance and the tax system. For healthcare the Lea have already been defined and for the environment the Lepta.
