According to the first reconstruction also guaranteed by the SIC, in reality the worker was hospitalized due to a dislocated shoulder. Initially, surgery was also considered for him, but fortunately everything was resolved only with appropriate treatment. This is the broadcaster’s statement to clarify what happened: “The JIT deeply regrets the insinuations regarding the aggressive and brutal behavior of our journalists. There were comments online suggesting that Pereira had provoked the entire incident. The opposite is true, with serious consequences for those who do their jobs“.

The Leipzig police also confirmed everything as reported by Bild: “Around 5.30pm two Portuguese journalists (Pereira and a cameraman – ed.) were physically attacked and beaten by several unknown persons. A 47-year-old man suffered injuries so serious that he had to be taken to hospital for observation. His partner, 57 years old, was slightly injured. The perpetrators have not yet been identified.”
