FLORENCE – The firefighters of the Florence command, Fi-Ovest detachment, intervened at 9.30 am in the municipality of Sesto Fiorentino in Via Antonio Gramsci, due to a fire in a technical room located on the second basement floor of a shopping center .
The firefighters entered the room filled with combustion fumes and extinguished the fire.
The air tank was also sent to the site to support the team, to ventilate the rooms.
Safety operations are underway. There are no people involved. As a precaution, the building was evacuated.
The ladder truck was also sent to the site to allow the evacuation of two workers present on the roof of the building who were carrying out maintenance work, who were unable to get down the stairwell due to the presence of fumes.
The intervention of healthcare personnel was requested on site as a precaution.
An official was also present on site to coordinate the rescue operations.
“I am following the fire that broke out at the Esselunga shopping center in Sesto Fiorentino.
The building was evacuated as a precaution, the Fire Brigade and our health workers from the regional emergency emergency system are intervening on site.
“There are no reported people injured.
Evacuation is underway of two workers present on the roof of the building who were carrying out maintenance work and were unable to get down due to the presence of fumes”, said the regional president Eugenio Giani.
