The policemen from the Capo d’Orlando police station arrested a 55-year-old citizen originally from Bangladesh on charges of aggravated mistreatment towards his wife, also originally from Bangladesh and with whom he has been living in Italy for some years.
The police intervened following a citizen’s report about a man armed with a stick who was wandering around the street threatening his wife who in the meantime, terrified, had barricaded herself in the house. Once the officers arrived on site, they stopped the man and took him to the barracks for the necessary investigations.
The woman then reported a long series of physical and moral harassment suffered at the hands of her husband who, according to the woman’s story, shortly before, just because she had not responded promptly to the intercom at home, had threatened to kill her by brandishing scissors at her, had attempted to break down the front door and had hit her in the abdomen with a stick.
Following the activity conducted by the Orlandina Police, the Patti Public Prosecutor’s Office promptly initiated the red code procedures, for which the man was arrested and transferred to the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto prison, on the orders of the investigating judge of Patti Eugenio Aliquò, who ordered her detention in prison in the absence of a suitable alternative domicile.
