In the eastern hinterland there is an entire community shocked by the death of the young Riccardo Cella, a 21-year-old from Borzonasca who lost his life late on Sunday evening on the state road near Villanoce, a hamlet of Rezzoaglio. The boy was with three other boys in a car that overturned after crashing into some trees for reasons yet to be ascertained. Cella died, while the other three ended up in hospital in serious conditions.

Riccardo’s family is known in the valley and his father, mother and sister are devastated as the recently re-elected mayor of Borzonasca Giuseppino Maschio also declared: “We are shocked by the terrible news – he explained to Primocanale – as well to Riccardo the other three injured young people are also residents of our area. Father, mother and daughter are destroyed by this fatal crash, we will try to stay close to them to make the whole community feel the pain. They were good kids, known, Riccardo was a great guy, part of a good family.”

In the valley, some initiatives were also postponed due to mourning, such as the gathering of the Sturla-Aveto sector of the Alpini on Saturday 22 June, which should have celebrated the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Borzonasca group. “A big hug to the sorely tried family members. We hope for those who are struggling in hospital” is the comment of those who spread the news of the postponement on social media.
