This will conclude a corporate restructuring process that lasted over a month, from the day of the “famous” statement by Segafredo Zanetti on the failure to renew the sponsorship. In the end, an agreement was reached with the QuattroR fund, and the sponsorship remained, albeit at half the amount and for only one year. With a lot of work – mainly by Luca Baraldi – the gap was filled, and the budget defined. The overall salary amount should be around 16 million, according to the Corriere di Bologna. From today, therefore, incoming operations can officially begin, starting with the renewal of DG Paolo Ronci and continuing with the arrival of new players. Some operations have already been finalized (Grazulis), for others there are negotiations – among others there is talk of Chris Jones (a player that coach Banchi likes a lot), Vildoza, Loyd – others instead seem to have faded away due to the stalemate of the last few days, such as Tyrique Jones who seems to be headed to Partizan.
The two issues of the market are the situations of Awudu Abass and Tornike Shengelia. The first is expiring, and at the moment he seems far from renewing, given the requests that are quite distant from what the club is offering. The second has the option to exit the contract (on June 30) by paying 500 thousand euros, just as Virtus has the option to exit (on July 5) by paying 200 thousand euros. It is no mystery that Virtus would like to extend the agreement with Shengelia, but by spreading the salary, which otherwise for next season would require 2 million euros. The player’s intentions will be understood shortly. In the meantime, the season ticket campaign will start on Monday.
