Livorno 18 June 2024 – “Judokando to Safety”: firefighters engaged in a training course on safety at school.
Through an innovative safety education project, the children of the second classes of the Banditella, San Simone and Montenero schools of the “G. Carducci” had the opportunity to live a sporting experience linked to the awareness of how, through knowledge of oneself and the correct behaviors to adopt, one can prevent or consciously face the dangers of fire and earthquake.
The classroom meetings, managed by the CSar Firefighter Giancarlo Damele, provided the children with a theoretical basis, through the viewing and dialogue commentary of videos and slides, while the lessons in the gym, conducted by the Firefighter and Technician of the Section . Judo of the GS “C. Tomei” Luca Lavagi, helped the children to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the classroom lesson.
The conclusion of the project included a visit to the headquarters in via Campania by a group of children chosen from among those who had done the most original and creative restitution work with a focus on what they learned in the hours dedicated to the project at school.
This experience at the Command, which also saw the active involvement of the Commander Eng. Ugo D’Anna, who welcomed the boys underlining the importance of this experience, allowed the boys to get to know the world of the Fire Brigade first hand and to experience the thrill of wearing their helmet. In fact, the children, guided by the Fire Brigade, went through a real training journey, learning to manage their fears and difficulties by facing, guided by safe hands, the risks and dangers they may encounter in their daily activities.
The Motor Education teachers who joined the project Prof. Paola Delle Piane, Lisa Posarelli and Francesca Santerini accompanied the children with enthusiasm in this training course, certain that this project represents an important step towards the training of responsible and safety-aware citizens , not only in their personal spaces but also in the community at large.
