The main draw matches also started on Monday, in particular with an all-Romagna derby between Francesco Forti from Cesena and Jacopo Bilardo from Forlì to open the main draw programme. The winner was Forti, who trains right in Cattolica on the courts of Giorgio Galimberti’s Academy, at the end of three tough sets that required three hours and 6 minutes of play in a torrid climate. First set controlled by Bilardo who breaks at the start and defends it until the end. In the second set there is the reaction of the Cesena player, just in his second tournament of the season after a long stop due to injury (he returned to Chieti last week), who goes up 2-0 with a break in the 2nd game, but in the 6th game Bilardo he reacts, makes the counterbreak and equalizes the score at 3-3, not only that, on the momentum he breaks Forti again and leads himself to serve for the match at 5-3. Furious fight, Forti reacts, reaches Bilardo at 5-5 and drags the match to the tie-break where he wins 8-6 after a point-to-point match. In the 3rd set, the one who still has some energy to expend, even emotional, is Forti who, in fact, breaks away from 3-3 at 6-3 and closes the match in front of the Academy’s technical staff and many friends.
On Tuesday (matches starting at 10am) the program includes the completion of the first round, both singles and doubles.
