Today, Wednesday 26 June 2024, the network of associations created for the defense and relaunch of the UCCP of San Giorgio del Sannio was convened by the DG Dr. Volpe at the ASL headquarters in Via Oderisio following a request formalized by the network, after the alarm launched by the GPs of the medium heat health proximity centre, to the management of the ASL, of the San Giorgio del Sannio District, to the mayors affected by the services of the center (San giorgio del sannio, Apice, calvi, San Nazzaro, San Nicola M. and San Martino Sannita) and to the prefect of Benevento.
The meeting focused on the need to maintain the essential services of the facility and therefore avoid the impoverishment of the territorial health service of the vast area of Mediocalore (about 20,000 inhabitants) and the additional overload of the 118/PS network given the significant filtering function of the Sangiorgese facility.
To avoid collapse, the network has asked to immediately authorize the entry of new general practitioners, starting with the two professionals who have already requested to take over and who have already taken care of around 4,000 patients.
In the absence of these patients, they will not be able to use the service in via A. Manzoni and will be forced to turn to doctors’ offices in other municipalities and with an evident reduction in hours. The ASL, in the person of the DG, has taken charge of the request, making a commitment to find an immediate solution with the district (service competent to issue the authorization) for the insertion of the two doctors.
The DG has announced that he wants to strengthen the centre’s service, as reiterated on other occasions, in order to guarantee continuity of care to Mediocalore users.
We thank the management for their willingness to discuss and believe that this is the starting point for improving services. Obviously, the network’s attention will remain high and starting next week – in the event of concrete solutions – a meeting will be scheduled with the mayors of the municipalities in the area to evaluate the actions to be taken.
