The extraction of all the dialogues and contacts contained in the two telephones and computer of Angelo Onorato has been completed, the 54-year-old entrepreneur found dead in circumstances not yet fully clarified in his car, on the slip road below the Palermo-Trapani motorway junction , Saturday 25 May.
The family’s request
As the Giornale di Sicilia writes, in an article by Michele Giuliano, the family has already submitted a request to the Prosecutor’s Office to have access to the information collected: thousands of messages, emails and chats transcribed by computer scientists. A work aimed above all at the recovery of audio or video files, emails and chats which are assumed to have been deleted from the devices, as was revealed during the investigations. The objective of the technical checks is precisely to understand what would actually have been removed and by whom. The investigators, in the early stages of the investigation, had already let it slip that there would be traces of deleted files, some even a few hours before the death.
The suicide hypothesis
The police, who are investigating the case and are leaning towards suicide, are convinced that many answers to the mystery of this death could be revealed precisely by deciphering the contents of these dialogues. Already a few days after the death of the fifty-four year old, the investigators had channeled their attention towards the private sphere of the man, husband of MEP Francesca Donato.
In fact, the checks carried out on the entrepreneurial activity of the construction companies controlled by Onorato had not revealed anything that could be of investigative importance. The technicians appointed in Rome by the Prosecutor’s Office who analyzed the devices used by the architect should make the contents available in the next few days.
However, the checks related to the extraction of the DNA from the fingerprints found on the electrician’s plastic band found around the man’s neck and on the bodywork of the car in which the professional’s lifeless body was found are still underway.
