GHEMME – Yesterday afternoon, in the heart of the center of Ghemme, a fire shook the tranquility of the town. Around 5.30pm, thick, dark smoke began to rise from the roof of a farmhouse located on the central street Novaracausing concern among residents and passers-by.
The alarm and the intervention of the Fire Brigade
The alarm was promptly raised around 5.30pm, when smoke was spotted coming out of the building. They intervened immediately on the spot Fire fighters of the voluntary detachment of Romagnano and the provincial command of Novara. The rapid and coordinated intervention prevented the fire from spreading further, endangering other nearby structures.
During the extinguishing operation, the Carabinieri and the staff of Municipality of Ghemme. The latter managed the traffic in the area, guaranteeing the safety and correct carrying out of the Fire Brigade’s operations. The area was promptly secured, prohibiting access to the dangerous areas.

Extensive damage and assessments underway
Although the fire was successfully extinguished, damage to the building appears to be significant. A precise estimate of the damage will be made in the next few hours. The farmhouse, a historic building on the street Novarahas suffered structural damage that will require major repairs.
The fire visible from kilometers away
The fire did not only attract the attention of the people of Ghemme, but also of numerous passers-by along the road 299 which connects the Valsesia to Novara. The smoke was in fact visible from several kilometers away, increasing concern and alarm in the area.
