According to the ‘Rtcg’ portal, Sarkic would have had an illness.
The friends present immediately called for help, but unfortunately every attempt to resuscitate him was useless. The death occurred around 6.30 in the morning.
The police also intervened on the scene to investigate the incident.
Montenegrin state television RTCG reports that Sarkic went for an evening walk with friends, then had dinner at a restaurant and returned early to his apartment.
He is believed to have told friends he felt unwell after waking up at around 6am this morning and they called an ambulance but it was too late.

Just ten days ago, Sarkic was man of the match in Montenegro’s 2-0 friendly defeat to Belgium, thanks to an extraordinary performance that included nine saves. With the national team he was supposed to return to the field on 6 September 2024 for the Nations League match against Iceland.
The talented number 1 received the honor of the fans who also celebrated him in Millwall’s last match of the season: a 1-0 victory over Swansea.
Matija Sarkic’s career
Born in Grimsby, England, Sarkic began his career in Anderlecht’s youth ranks when his father, a diplomat, moved to Brussels. In 2015, at the age of 18, he was signed by Aston Villa. Since then, he has played for various teams in England, finishing his last season at Millwall, where he had joined from Wolverhampton.
