Venier (Snam), significant progress on Russian gas dependence – News

“Despite the volatility of the energy market, Europe and Italy have made significant progress in reducing dependence on Russian gas, thanks to the diversification of supply sources and the development of infrastructure.” This was underlined by Stefano Venier, CEO of Snam spa and member of the Mib board of directors, during his keynote speech at the meeting promoted yesterday by the Mib Trieste school of management.

“In Italy – he explained – we are working on projects such as the Adriatica Line and the SoutH2 Corridor, which will not only increase gas transport capacity but will also be ready for hydrogen, thus contributing to the energy transition. It is essential to adopt an approach of ‘multilevel integration’, which combines security, transition and technological innovation, to face current and future challenges”. According to Venier, “sustainability must be pursued through a plurality of application horizons, including the reduction of emissions, the protection of biodiversity and attention to local communities. Only a healthy system can organize itself to be in tune with the Planet, and for this reason, at Snam, we are aiming for future-proof infrastructure and an ambitious strategic plan that includes significant investments in biomethane, hydrogen, CO2 capture and storage and energy efficiency”.

The event was promoted, explains the school, also to meet the member companies with an eye to the future.

“We must continue to work with all stakeholders to extend partnerships and create new links with the business community – underlined the president of Mib Cristiano Borean, cfo of Assicurazioni Generali – I see a bright future for Mib”.
