264 cars at the starting line

Everything is ready for the start of the 73rd edition of the Trento-Bondone. The start of the first crew is scheduled for 10am, preceded as usual by the parade of forerunners who will put on a show on the 40 hairpin bends that lead up to the Alpe di Trento. The clear favourite, even after Saturday’s tests, remains the Tuscan Simone Faggioli in search of his 15th success in Trentino. Great brawl behind him to try for a place on the podium with the Sicilian Luigi Fazzino and the home favorite Diego Degasperi who already showed a great pace yesterday, despite taking into account a very cold asphalt. In this case, the Syracusan appears to be quite a surprise as it is his first Trento-Bondone and who knows if he might play a trick on the highly rated Faggioli. Moving on to the numbers, however, there will be 264 cars entered in the race, with the historic cars starting the actual competition. In succession, it will then be the turn of the modern cars of the Italian Hill Climb Championship to precede those of the Italian Superclimb Championship. The stage is ready and festively decorated, on the meadows that go up towards Bondone there are already many enthusiasts waiting for the cars to pass. As regards the record set in 2017 by Faggioli himself, however, we will have to wait: the time of 9 minutes flat will not be approachable for technical reasons linked to the weight of the cars, which has increased since then, and the track conditions, too cold for allow maximum tire performance. The road will be closed to traffic from 8am.
