THE RECONSTRUCTION

According to an initial reconstruction of Coast Guard, (announced to the press) – around 4 in the morning the young man decided to go on a dinghy ride with his girlfriend, who lives in La Maddalena. As soon as we left the port, after a few minutes of navigation, the vessel, for reasons yet to be ascertained, ended up on the rocks emerging in front of the island of Santo Stefano, a treacherous passage that everyone knows.

Stipa he was an experienced seaman and above all with an in-depth knowledge of the places of the Archipelago, precisely due to his work in the Navy. The impact with the rocks was fatal for him: thrown from the dinghy he hit his head on the rocks, losing consciousness and ending up under water. He would then have drowned.

The alarm was raised by DJ Pasqualino Zigantiwho was arranging his equipment in the car after a show in Cala Gavetta, on the port quay, and heard the loud noise of the impact of the dinghy on the rocks.

There Coast Guard patrol boat she immediately left the port and arrived at the accident site in a very short time, finding the girl in a state of shock but unharmed. It was the girl who alerted the Coast Guard soldiers that her boyfriend was also on board.

The search for the missing person continued for about an hour, with the help of the scheduled ferry of the Delcomar who approached the scene by turning on the powerful headlights to overcome the darkness of the night, and in the end the body of the young officer was recovered from the seabed by his colleagues from the Navy Diver Unit of La Maddalena, which in the meantime occurred on site.
