the illustration workshop starts on June 17th

The Artlab Eyeland workshops continue with great success – the island of the arts, a project promoted by PhEST, which accompanies the rebirth of Taranto until June 30th involving the community of the Old City in a multidisciplinary artistic experience.

The artistic director Giovanni Troilo, with the support of Arianna Rinaldo for photography, Roberto Lacarbonara for contemporary art and Cinzia Negherbon for the organizational direction, developed the theme “Terra Madre”. This has led to projects that have attracted participants from all over Italy for moments of art, sharing and experimentation with local and international artists.

The next appointment is the Illustration Laboratory, from June 17th, conducted by Nicola Sammarco with Animatà Academy. Sammarco, originally from Taranto, has worked with Walt Disney Italia and Netflix and founded Nasse Animation Studio and Animatà Academy, which aims to introduce young people to the world of animation.

Recently, the photographic workshop with Lisa Sorgini saw the participation of 54 people, culminating in the “Terra Madre” exhibition between Postierla Immacolata, Vico Galeota and Palazzo Galeota. Sorgini is also the protagonist of the “Mother” exhibition at Palazzo Galeota.

The Natural Screen Printing Laboratory of the Ammostro collective engaged the participants in the collection of dyeing plants, culminating in the creation of posters with natural colors.

The songwriting workshop “We are Musical Instruments”, held by Fido Guido, explored the creation of musical pieces with young people from Taranto. Guido praised the initiative for its genuine and enriching approach.

The artistic exhibitions continue until June 30, with the exhibitions “Terra Madre” and “Mother” by Lisa Sorgini, interventions by Giovanni Termini and Gianni D’Urso, and the exhibition “The Day May Break” by Nick Brandt, in addition to screenings of period films on the theme of steel.

The Isola Madre call for artists awarded the Isola Madre Prize to Luigi Colella and Alessandra Gervasio, with the possibility of exhibiting at GATA Galleria Taranto.

Artlab Eyeland is organized by PhEST, in collaboration with the Municipality of Taranto and sponsored by the Puglia Region and the National Superintendence for underwater cultural heritage. Main partner: University of Bari Aldo Moro. Media partners: Il Giornale dell’Arte and Salgemma. Sponsor: Cantine San Marzano.

The exhibition of Lisa Sorgini’s residence is created with the collaboration of various cooperatives and local associations.
