“He cut the gas pipes and barricaded himself in his ex-wife’s house to blow it up”: arrested

He had barricaded himself in his ex-wife’s house and cut the gas pipes with the intention of blowing up the apartment. The Carabinieri arrested a 53-year-old Romanian national accused of the crime of massacre for an episode that occurred in 2022 in via Oreto. The man, already under house arrest in a community, was locked up in a cell in the Pietro Cerulli prison in Trapani.

The facts date back to December 2022. According to what was reconstructed at the time by the soldiers of the Brancaccio station, the 53-year-old – already under investigation for mistreatment in the family towards his ex-wife – had managed to sneak into the woman’s apartment and had severed “the pipes connected to the gas cylinders – explain the provincial command – with the clear intention of blowing up the house”.

The intervention of the police and firefighters, however, was enough to avert the worst and the man was arrested. The investigators, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, managed to reconstruct what happened that day and so, a year and a half later, the investigating judge issued a precautionary custody order in prison against the 53-year-old carried out by the military of the Piazza Verdi Company.
