The Municipality of Olevano sul Tusciano he published and enters the ordinance comes into force from tomorrow, Saturday 15 June of forest fire prevention in the municipal territory, in compliance with national and regional legislation. The ordinance remains in force for the period of maximum danger and, therefore, until next October 15th.
During the four-month period, the following are prohibited: the burning of agricultural and forestry plant residues; the burning of stubble and weeds, even in uncultivated areas; light open fires in the woods and up to a distance of 100 m from them, as well as in pastures.
«The fight against forest fires does not stop for the protection of our very rich territory from an environmental point of view – declares the mayor Michele Ciliberti – In compliance with current legislation and regional provisions, the ordinance has been issued which from next Saturday imposes a series of prohibitions and strict requirements to be followed in the coming months and until October 15th. I trust in the common sense of citizens: nature must be safeguarded, the environment must be protected».
The methods
In order to protect the forestry heritage, it is also forbidden to use engines or stoves that produce sparks or embers; use flame or electric tools to cut metals; explode mines; smoke or carry out any other operation that could create a medium or immediate risk of fire such as, for example: throwing matches or lit cigarettes; park vehicles on unpaved roads in wooded areas.
Finally, it is forbidden to light fireworks, launch rockets of any type and/or “flying lanterns” equipped with open flames, as well as other pyrotechnic articles at a distance of no less than 1 km from wooded areas and pastures.
The contraventions
Up to 500 euro fine for violators. The latter will be subject to an administrative fine ranging from a minimum of 25 euros to a maximum of 500 euros.
