It starts in July the “Lucania Express”, the first direct connection of the Trenitalia Regional (Leading company of the FS Group Passenger Hub) between Potenza and Bari.
The service will be carried out with a Pop train, the first of 8 expected to be delivered by 2026within the scope of the service contract with the Basilicata Region.
From the next July 1st and until December 14thin agreement with the Basilicata Region and on an experimental basisthe new link will be available, with departure from Potenza to Bari in the morning and return from Bari to Potenza in the evening, con intermediate stops at the stations of Grassano, Ferrandina Scalo-Matera, Metaponto and Gioia del Colle.
In detail, here are the races:
- departure from Potenza Centrale at 6.06 to reach Bari Centrale at 8.51;
- departure from Bari Centrale at 7.09pm to arrive in Potenza at 9.54pm (from 1 July to 14 September);
- departure from Bari Centrale at 6.14pm to arrive in Potenza at 8.59pm (from 15 September to 14 December).
The over 500 total spaces, together with the 12 spaces for bicycles available, will allow Lucanian travellers to comfortably reach Bari during weekdays, intensifying the connections between the regional capitals of Basilicata and Puglia.
The Lucania Express journeys are already available on Trenitalia channels.
