We loved each other so much. It is the case of Gigi D’Alessio and his ex-wife Carmela Barbato, the partner to whom he was linked for several years and from whose love his first three children were born. A beautiful love story born in Naples when Gigi D’Alessio was not yet one of the most loved and appreciated Neapolitan singer-songwriters on the Italian music scene. The first meeting between the two was when they were two boys aged 15 and 16 in Naples. A real love at first sight between the two who got engaged shortly after. In 1986 Carmela and Gigi became husband and wife with a wedding celebrated in their beloved Naples. The couple was very much in love and three splendid children were born from their marriage: Claudio, the eldest son who works as an entrepreneur, the daughter Ilaria who graduated in Political Science, and finally Luca, who became famous with the pseudonym of LDA and who decided to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a can followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming a singer.
The marriage between Carmela Barbato and Gigi D’Alessio lasted until 2006 when the singer-songwriter announced his relationship with Anna Tatangelo. A story that made a lot of noise with vitriolic statements from his ex-wife.

D’Alessio’s ex-wife, in one of the very rare interviews given to the weekly Di Più, speaking about the end of her marriage with the singer, revealed: “we had the same values, primarily in the family. Then came the success, all this well-being. I preferred when Gigi was an unknown musician and we lived on simple things, on sincerity, on complicity. Too much well-being has destroyed us.” The success and popularity have certainly influenced the relationship crisis between the two who, after a period of separation, are back on excellent terms. In 2014 D’Alessio and Barbato announced their divorce.
