hat-trick from Ijeh and goal from Marinelli

Two goals in each half and a great performance characterize the first AC Milan women’s match in the Her Nations Tour in Mexico: the Rossonere imposed themselves on the Club Rayadas, recent winner of the Liga MX Femenil Clausura Tournament, 4-0. An evening, that of Monterrey, branded by Evelyn Ijeh. The Swedish striker, who arrived in Italy from a Mexican team (Tigres), stood out with a nice hat-trick. To close the score, in the final, a penalty kick Gloria Marinelli.

An evening that saw the Rossonere perform well in the presence of a top-level team committed to the 2024 Apertura Tournament. The Rossonere’s experience in Mexico will continue until the end of the week, with the team moving from Monterrey to Mexico City: the second and last friendly match of this tour is scheduled for the Italian night between Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June, the one against Tuzas de Pachuca.

THE NEWS
In the beautiful setting of the BBVA Stadium in Monterrey (the venue that will host the 2026 World Cup), the Rossonere started with a good attitude and a couple of interesting ideas from Dompig. The match was balanced, the hosts came close to taking the lead in the 19th minute by hitting the crossbar but between the 28th and 29th minutes it was Milan who broke the deadlock, with a one-two from Ijeh. Our number 19 is irrepressible and comes close to making it three in the 33rd minute with a shot that ends just over. Rayadas tries to respond with two shots in the 36th and 42nd minutes which however do not worry Babb – captain of the day – between the posts.

We start again with a change in the Rossonere – Marinelli on for Dompig – and generally slower pace compared to the lively first half. In the 63rd minute Milan’s third goal arrives, again from the feet of Evelyn Ijeh: cross from the right by Piga, support in the center of the area by the Swede and first hat-trick for the Rossoneri. The two teams emptied their respective benches (Stokić and Mikulica also entered Milan for their unofficial first team debut) and in the 81st minute the Rossonere took the lead with a glacial Marinelli from eleven meters for the penalty to make it 4-0 .
