Two doctors are under investigation for the death of Gerardo Pugliese, the 50-year-old found dead last Saturday on agricultural land he owned in Polla. They are both doctors at the Luigi Curto hospital where the man had been hospitalized a fortnight before his death. This is a necessary action as, to clarify the causes of the man’s death, an autopsy has been ordered and will most likely be carried out late Friday morning. In fact, the task will be assigned tomorrow at 10 am and the parties have already appointed their consultants. From the outset, the case did not prove easy to understand and could be classified as due to an illness. Pugliese had been complaining about health problems for some time and had finally turned to the hospital in Polla where he had been visited by a specialist for the stomach pains he was suffering from. From here it seems he was then sent to Oliveto Citra and then discharged. The Lagonegro Prosecutor’s Office therefore wants to understand what happened and whether third parties were responsible for the man’s premature death. Hence the registration of the two doctors from Luigi Curto in the register of suspects under the hypothesis of manslaughter. Pugliese was found lifeless by his brother on Saturday morning. The night before he had told the family with whom he lived that he would not return home. Now the town of Polla awaits the performance of the autopsy examination for the release of the body and the funeral during which it will be able to pay its last respects to the 50-year-old.
