The decision was taken a month ago by the general council of the association, meeting on 7 May in Sassuolo, the same Emilian town, leader in ceramic production, where the association meeting took place yesterday which made the appointment official, also electing the new presidential team which is made up of vice presidents Vittorio Borelli, Luigi Di Carlantonio, Giorgio Romani, Alberto Selmi and Graziano Verdi.

Ciarrocchi: “There is still no alternative to methane gas”

“Everything has happened in recent years, all that was missing was the invasion of the Martians…”, Ciarrocchi said in the presentation press conference. For example on the use of alternative energies, a topic on which “nothing tells us that they can replace methane, and it is useless to propose absurd calendars up to 2030 if there is nothing on the horizon to replace methane”. Ciarrocchi hoped that there would be “an awareness among all political forces” on the topic.

Ciarrocchi’s career

Augusto Ciarrocchi, born in Civita Castellana in 1960, after graduating in law from the University of Perugia, practiced law for four years. In 1986 he joined the board of directors of Ceramica Flaminia, where in 1990 he held the role of manager of the legal and administrative area, becoming managing director in April 1999 and, from September of the same year, president of the board of directors and general manager.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the board of directors of the Civita Castellana Ceramic Center – of which he held the position of president for 11 years, until 2019 – and was a councilor of the Tuscia Energia provincial consortium in the four-year period 2000-2004.

Within the Confindustria he was president of the ceramic section of Unindustria Roma, Frosinone, Latina, Rieti and Viterbo (2012 – 2020) and member of the Technical Committee for the protection of Made in Italy and the fight against counterfeiting of Confindustria (2012 – 2019); since 2018 he has been vice-president of Confindustria Ceramica, reconfirmed in the following two years.
