Assp, the municipal company that manages pharmacies, car parks and cemeteries, confirms itself as a ‘gold mine’ for the Municipality of Cesano, which will also receive just under 400 thousand euros in dividends this year.
The 2023 financial statement closes with revenues that have exceeded 11 million euros and a growth of 4%. Assp annually pays its member municipalities (in addition to Cesano also Limbiate, Meda and Varedo, the latter with 0.1% of the shares each), fees which in 2023 amounted to around 600 thousand euros. In 2023, the pharmacies managed by Assp became 8 in total and brought in revenues of 9.8 million euros. In 2023 Assp made investments of around 870 thousand euros, including the construction of the new municipal pharmacy number 2 in Limbiate with 8 attached medical clinics, the expansion of the medical clinics in via Cesare Battisti in Cesano, the conversion of the former pharmacy 1 in Cesano in medical clinics, the completion of the extraordinary maintenance of the burial niches of field 7 in the central cemetery of Cesanese, as well as the construction of new family tombs and garden field n. 32. All this without any recourse to credit and, indeed, in 2023 the existing loans were completely repaid and all the activities managed by Assp are currently in the black. To support the communities in which it operates, Assp has made sponsorships and donations of 50 thousand euros to the 4 member municipalities for socio-cultural and sporting initiatives. It also provided 24 thousand euros for the construction of the new entrance to the Emergency Department of the Papa Pio XI Hospital in Desio, coordinated by Cancro Primo Aiuto.
Luca Zardoni, sole director of Assp who concludes his three-year mandate with this report, does not hide his satisfaction: “A three-year period of growth and further strengthening which has made Assp, according to a recent study by a multinational company specialized in research market, the 62nd among the 1000 largest companies in the pharmacy sector in Italy. When the then mayor Gigi Ponti called me to restore a company on the brink of collapse, which was under investigation by the Court of Auditors, it seemed like an impossible mission. In recent years we have not only restored the company but achieved unthinkable goals: we have distributed ordinary and extraordinary dividends of approximately 5.4 million and we are now ready to pay a maxi extraordinary dividend of over 7.5 million, the result of the withdrawal action. from Aeb/A2a which ended in December”.
