Near tragedy in Tortona due to an apartment saturated with gas, a building evacuated by firefighters

It went well because the worst could have happened, this afternoon, Wednesday 12 June, in a condominium along the former state road to Genoa in Tortona, where a huge gas leak occurred inside an apartment which in a short time it is saturated with gas.

The smell that could be felt along the stairs alerted some residents who immediately raised the alarm and the Tortona Fire Brigade intervened on site and immediately evacuated all the people inside the building.

While around twenty inhabitants remained outside the house and at a safe distance, the Tortonesi firefighters entered inside with great caution to try to understand where the gas leak was coming from. Then they closed the meter and called in the administrator and gas technicians. An intervention that lasted about two hours where in the end no one got hurt but the danger of an explosion was real.

Immediately afterwards the firefighters intervened in Vai Macrino d’Alba where a pipe suddenly broke inside an apartment which flooded and caused infiltration in the one below. Also in this case the firefighters entered the apartment and closed the valve on the meter: this time the water one.
