President Fontana visits the Milan Fire Brigade barracks – VareseInLuce.it

Institutional visit of the president of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana to the headquarters of the provincial fire brigade command, in via Messina in Milan.

The governor thanked the firefighters for their commitment: “You are loved and appreciated by the population. I believe it is a pride of our Region to have such a well organized body – he commented – and it is a guarantee for our citizens to know that they can count, unfortunately more and more frequently, on their intervention. They are very good both from a technical point of view, and for this reason they are constantly updated, and from a human point of view in knowing how to approach the anxieties that people feel in certain moments.”

On the occasion of this meeting, which was attended by the regional director Fabrizio Piccinini, the provincial commander Nicola Micele presented some data relating to the fire brigade’s activity carried out in 2023 in the Milan area and surrounding areas: the rescue interventions were 28,669, around 80 per day and with over 40,000 teams involved. The average arrival time on site was approximately 17 minutes.

As regards the wave of bad weather that affected Milan and the province in July 2023, 1200 rescue interventions were carried out, with the use of a total of one thousand units and 35 vehicles.

For the flood of May 2024 which affected the Milanese areas of Gessate and Bellinzago, there were over 300 interventions.
