Death of Michele Merlo, case closed

Four years after the untimely death of Michele Merlothe young singer from Vicenza, made famous by the talent shows “Amici” and “X Factor”, the judge for the preliminary investigations it decided to close the proceedings against the general practitioner, Vitaliano Pantaleowhich he had been accused of manslaughter.

Blackbirdalso known by his stage name Mike Birddied on 6 June 2021 in Bologna, at the age of 28, due to a fulminant leukemia. Michele had achieved fame thanks to her participation in “Amici” and “X Factor”, where she had conquered the public with her voice and her talent.

Shortly before his death, Michele had turned to his GP, Vitaliano Pantaleo, complaining of a bruised thigh. The young singer believed that the bruise had been caused during a move. The doctor, after examining him, discharged him without further investigations. Unfortunately, a few days later, Michele was hit by one fulminant leukemia which left him no escape.

Michele’s family, shocked by his sudden passing, had decided to take legal action against the GP, accusing him of manslaughter. According to the family, the doctor should have recognized the symptoms of leukemia and immediately started the necessary tests for one timely diagnosis. However, the judge for preliminary investigations accepted the prosecutor’s request and decided to close the casebelieving that there was insufficient evidence to support the accusation.
