From 12 June 2024, Stefano Bernardo, an expert in the medical and management field, originally from Lombardy and currently fifty-two years old, has been appointed to lead the “Clinical Risk Management” unit of ULSS 4. His task will be to improve the quality of care and ensure patient safety.
Training and early career
Bernardo began his training by graduating in Medicine and Surgery at the La Statale University of Milan, and then obtained a specialization in Endocrinology and Diabetology at Milano-Bicocca.
Professional and educational experiences
In his professional background, Bernardo brings different experiences, having started his career as an internal medicine doctor at the ASST Ovest Milanese. Here he followed a path that included outpatient activities and the care of critically ill patients, as well as dedicating himself to university teaching, both in nursing degree courses and as a tutor for postgraduates.
A path of professional growth
Since 2019, he has expanded his interest towards the organizational and management area. At the same ASST Ovest Milanese, he took an active part in the strategic direction, dealing mainly with the Corporate Quality System, Institutional Accreditation and Clinical Risk Management. In 2022 he was promoted to risk manager, a role that set the stage for his recent decision to move and contribute to the Veneto healthcare system.
This new phase in Stefano Bernardo’s career marks a further step forward in his dedication to the continuous improvement of the Italian healthcare system, strengthening ULSS 4’s commitment to promoting a safe and high-quality healthcare environment for patients.
