Golden June for Tommaso Bessegawho after taking home the memorial Arturo Gravalos won the first stage of the Montañés Circuit: at the finish line in Renedo de Pielagos the twenty-year-old from Polti Kometa U23, splendidly driven by teammate Pablo Garcia, dominated the restricted sprint ahead of Joseph Brooks (AVC Aix en Provence) fresh from the day’s breakaway which came close to the coup, in Alain Suarez (Gomur Cantabria) and another dozen riders.
“A very tough finish, with the last tear made at the entirety – commented Bessega, arrived last year in the Italian-Spanish team from Bustese Oloniaa Lombard youth team affiliated with the Basso and Contador structure – and I thank my teammates for the excellent work, I don’t have what it takes to defend the leader’s jersey until the end but I will do everything to win another stage!”
The race will continue with three other stages of increasing difficulty.
