In Caltanissetta, Walter Calogero Tesauro, candidate of the centre-right, won with 52.36%; her rival Annalisa Maria Petitto, a civic member supported by the Democratic Party, stopped at 47.64%.

38.27% of eligible voters went to the polls, with a decrease of 17.64% compared to the first round which saw 55.91% of voters registered.

In the capital, the outgoing mayor Roberto Gambino of the M5s, who came third in the first round, had decided not to support either candidate. Satisfaction was expressed by the new MEP and regional councilor Edy Tamajo: “I am proud to have supported Walter Calogero Tesauro from the first hour in his race for mayor of Caltanissetta”.

In Gela, defeat for the centre-right. The winner is Giuseppe Terenziano Di Stefano who obtains 61.34% of the preferences, the challenger Grazia Rita Cosentino stopped at 38.66%.

Among the first to declare himself satisfied with the result is the leader of the Movement for Autonomy Raffaele Lombardo: “I am very happy with the success of Terenziano Distefano as the new mayor of Gela. Not only because he was an early autonomist militant, but because I believe he will have the freedom and strength necessary to bring about a turning point in the development of the city, centered on its history, cultural heritage, the richness of the sea and the land and above all on the intelligence and passion of the Gelese people”.
The new mayor was supported by seven lists: Pd, M5s, Autonomisti, Libertà-De Luca Sud calls North, PCI, and two civic,

In Pachino, in the province of Syracuse, ten votes made the difference: Giuseppe Gambuzza, supported by the centre-right and from the South calling for the North, obtained 4285 votes, i.e. 50.06 percent of the vote, winning the mayor’s seat. Rosaria “Barbara” Fronterrè – who was supported by some centre-left civic lists, by the Movement for Autonomy and by the New Sicily Christian Democracy – received 4275 votes, i.e. 49.94 percent of the vote. Considering some statements by political figures close to Fronterrè and given the very small gap – only ten votes – it seems that a recount of the ballots could be requested. 8,682 people went to vote, i.e. 41.25 percent of those entitled to vote.
