Jeep, “the most American” you’ll see: an Independence Day tribute

Among the names inextricably linked to America there is certainly (at least) one of Stellantis’ internal brands. And we’re talking about Jeeps, one of the historically associated with the United States of off-road vehicles and bulky SUVs. The brand, born during the tiring years of the Second World War, has become one of the most relevant automotive brands at a national and international level. Americans, we know, have a real passion for pick-ups and decidedly large vehicles.

In 2023 the local market for vehicles in these segments, including pick-ups and off-road vehicles, saw the movement of approximately 12.4 million specimens, mind-boggling numbers that make it a very popular segment. Pay attention, when you think of America, the colors red, white and blue immediately come to mind, those of the stars and stripes of the national flag, obviously, but also large, very large means of transport. The European point of view is inevitably stereotyped but, in essence, it identifies few generally true elements.

So, how do we celebrate America’s “Old Glory”, the much-loved American Independence? There is no more American 4th of July than a Jeep pick-up painted red, white, blue, without forgetting the stars. A Jeep Gladiator truly special, carefully customized, it has a livery that is sure to arouse patriotism at first glance in the coming weeks.

This version was already seen at the 2019 SEMA Show and was sold several times at various auctions. After disappearing from the scene, it is now up for auction again. The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, after passing into the hands of a workshop for various customizations, was transformed into something called “USA – Red, White & Blue”. It really seems like seeing a flag waving in the wind, but on the bodywork of a pick-up.

In addition to the cosmetic changes, the Gladiator has undergone significant mechanical upgrades, and now it’s even much wilder. The original 3.6-liter V6 engine remained intact, but the optional eight-speed automatic transmission replaced the standard six-speed manual. Most of the changes are to the underside and suspension. Along with the American livery, the mechanics added new Westin front and rear bumpers, with the front bumper featuring a Superwinch winch.

The wheels on this Jeep are perhaps the most impressive element, with 20-inch KMC Grenade wheels fitted with huge Mickey Thompson Baja tires. Inside, the pickup has essentially its original features, with heated front seats, an audio system with an 8.4-inch screen and remote entry with start.

Jeep,

The pickup will be auctioned on July 13, about a week after Independence Day, in Kissimmee, Florida, by Mecum. It is estimated that it could exceed $80,000 and remain under $100,000.
