On Friday 14 June at 5.30 pm, St. Peter’s Square in Albano will host the public assembly organized by the “Castelli Romani per la Palestine” group. According to its proponents, this event, open to all citizens, aims to raise awareness and inform the population about the dramatic situation in Palestine.

“In recent months – we read in the presentation note – the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has reached extreme levels of violence, with over 35,000 deaths among the Palestinian population. Among the numerous war crimes attributed to Israel, the bombing of the Rafah refugee camp which occurred on the night of May 27 stands out. This attack, like many others, caused immeasurable loss of life and exacerbated an already critical humanitarian crisis.”

“The assembly intends to denounce not only the actions of the Israeli government, but also the complicity of the Italian government and the opposition in parliament, accused of actively supporting the State of Israel. The event will serve to discuss and explore the ways in which the Italian parliament has shown its closeness to the economic interests at stake, often to the detriment of the fundamental human rights of the Palestinian people.

Another crucial point of the assembly will be the widespread disinformation regarding the conflict, which tends to reduce the complex situation to the sole “fight against terrorism”. This simplified narrative does not do justice to the reality of the facts and helps to divert attention from the serious human rights violations underway. The assembly will therefore represent a moment of collective discussion and reflection, with the aim of identifying concrete responses and actions that can also be adopted at a local level.

The meeting comes at a particularly critical moment, in light of the latest massacre that occurred in the Nuseirat refugee camp, where 300 people lost their lives in an attack supported directly by the United States. This tragic event underlines the urgency of international mobilization to stop the genocide and put an end to the Zionist occupation.

“Castelli Romani per la Palestine” invites all citizens to participate in this assembly to demonstrate their support for the Palestinian people and to unite in a request for freedom and justice. Their appeal is clear and direct: enough genocide, stop the Zionist occupation, freedom for Palestine.

Participation in this event not only represents an act of solidarity, but also a civic commitment to promote peace and human rights. In an age where misinformation is rampant, it is essential to inform yourself and act consciously to support the right causes.”
