Fire on the MSC ship in Porto Marghera

It happened Monday morning. A fire on the MSC cruise ship docked in Porto Marghera broke out before 8am and was immediately put out.

«Around 6.30, during docking in Marghera, a smoke alarm went off in the laundry area due to a small electrical fire which was quickly put out without any danger to the passengers and crew of the ship. The ground fire brigade teams, in collaboration with the authorities, after being alerted and waiting in port, boarded the ship to carry out in-depth checks and ensure maximum safety of the ship”, the company says. .

The operations room of the Venice coast guard received a report from the pilot on board the Armonia ship arriving at the port of Venice and the port master’s office coordinated the intervention operations by sending a patrol and a coast guard patrol boat to the mooring, cp833 , together with fire brigade teams. Technical investigations are underway to verify the causes of the accident.

The crew who intervened to put out the fire activated the safety procedures by evacuating the affected area. Once the ship was moored, the inspectors (Port State Control Officers) of the coast guard came on board with the fire brigade team in order to verify the safety conditions. 118 medical personnel were also on site for preventive purposes to assist the crew members who had acted in the early stages. Once the event has concluded positively, checks will be carried out by the technical body before the MSC resumes navigation.
